The Simple Practice That’s Missing From Your Morning Routine

Do you know how much power lies in your mind?  Your simple ability to think is amazing, and can impact every single aspect of what you do.

So how can you use this for the greater good of your entire life?

There’s a few different ways to think yourself towards a positive mindset, but one in particular has been a real game changer for me.

GRATITUDE.

Being so damn thankful for everything that you have right now, there is no room for anything else.

I know, it sounds too good to be true.  But I have found that developing a gratitude practice can change your perspective of a situation.  I’m even going to go further and say it can change your perspective of your entire life.

Gratitude turns what we have into enough.  It also helps us find the good in even the hardest of situations.  It reminds us the Universe is working FOR us, in every way.

Gratitude has been proven to lower stress levels, improve self esteem, reduce aggression, and may even help you sleep better!

I don’t know about you, but that’s enough to convince me to try something new.

To harness the power of gratitude even more, the best advice I can give is to start your day with gratitude.  Every single morning.

Get into the habit of making it the very first thought that comes into your mind when you wake up.

The How:

Every morning, before doing anything else, pause to think about or write down at least 3 things you are grateful for.

It sounds easy enough, right?

But sometimes you may wake up in a hurry.

Or really tired after a sleepless night.

Or so hungry you need to get to the kitchen asap (just me?).

It doesn’t matter-do it anyway!!

This is where the practice comes in.

One of my alarms ( I literally set 3-5 everyday, heavy sleeper problems) that goes off in the morning says “What are you grateful for?”  And it’s the best reminder!

I also love The 5 Minute Journal, which has space to write three gratitudes every day.  You can also just have a note started in your phone, or a plain journal dedicated to gratitudes that encourages you to write every morning.

It doesn’t matter how you do it, there aren’t any rules here.  There are no limits to how big or small your gratitudes can be.  How about that warm cup of coffee you’re about to drink?  Or the fact that you woke up to embrace another day?  Or your health?  Or all the incredible people that you love?

I have a feeling that once you get started, you’ll be able to think of a lot more than three!

It’s a practice, but I think you’ll find that it can change the entire direction of your day.

So set an alarm on your phone, put a cute new journal by your bed, and tomorrow morning wake up and start off with gratitude!

I’ll go first—Right this second I am grateful for music, the freedom to write and share with you, and my health/strong body!

Your turn…the time for gratitude is NOW!

If you feel like sharing, I would LOVE to hear what you are grateful for!  Leave your comment below, email me, or dm me on the gram!  I love connecting with you guys.
